MSC EXCURSIONS: DREAM TEAM OF FIFA WORLD CUP 2014

Thursday, June 12th, 2014

MSC EXCURSIONS: When the Italian company MSC Cruises has announced that one of twelve ships of the fleet had been chartered to follow the Mexican football games in the World Cup in Brazil, all the Shore Excursion department asked the same question: How do I be in this team? The answer everyone already knew. It was not a matter of competence, but lucky to be one of the chosen. Most of MSC Tour Escorts are experienced and were the height to cover the World Cup. In a MSC fleet there more less 120 tour escorts, but only 10 would be chosen. The candidate had to fit a few requirements: speak Spanish well, have a USA visa, know the tours in Brazil and be good seller. When I received the statement that I was hired I became very happy. I start to imagine how it would escort passengers to the stadium, and have a lucky to watch maybe one match. I started to prepare myself, I left my…

Spanish very well. I studied more about the tours in Brazil. I was one of the last to get the MSC Divina and join the team. I am honored to publish here the top ten names of Tour Escorts chosen. Italian: Barbara Cariddi, Ilenia Lubrano and Melissa del Cinque; Mexican: Marc Rousselle Lujan, Carlos Bonilla and Ilse Saldaña; Brazilian: Toni Bahia, Robson Sales, Lincoln Santos and Marcos Garcia. The French Selma Bozkirac was the Tour Manager. During the event we had also the support of Marco Cardoso, the Brazilian Shorex Manager. This team was very good, we got all targets. Besides the lucky outing, all departments were happy to participate in such important event as FIFA World Cup. Thanks MSC Divina to make me been in beautiful places in Brazil, to work with VIP passengers and brought home a unique and unforgettable experience to be in the FIFA World Cup in my country.

MSC EXCURSIONS: TO VISIT A MONASTERY IN TRINIDAD & TOBAGO

Thursday, May 29th, 2014

MSC EXCURSIONS: Without any doubt, the most interesting tour in Trinidad and Tobago is to visit the Monastery from Port of Spain. The town did not call my attention. The impression I had of the city Port of Spain was poor. The social inequality is visible in the city center, the rich driving big cars while the rest of the population asks some coins. The sightseeing passed in front of some old churches, old palaces and town hall. The first stop was at the Botanical Garden. Close to the garden our guide showed us the big house palace where the President works and lives. After take some pictures we took the road towards the monastery. We spent half an hour driving to arrive. Its hard do not sleep on the bus. The Monastery’s manager…

greeted us as hosts. He was very friendly and he showed us the rooms of the monastery and served us a snack. He invited us to visit the church which is next to the monastery and giving access to the souvenir store. The store is funding to help cover the costs of the monks and staff. The manager told us that during long time there was anyone interested to be cloistered in the monastery. The initiative is to transform boys without prospect of life in good citizens. He said the work is so hard. It’s difficult to find boys willing to follow silent living style for religious purposes. The monastery also hosts tourists wishing to spend a time to receive the purification faraway from family, friends and job. The tour started at 09:00 and finished at 14:30.

MSC EXCURSIONS: COYABA BEACH ON YOUR OWN IN GRENADA

Wednesday, May 28th, 2014

MSC EXCURSIONS: How I love Caribbean. The beaches are the most beautiful in the world, the people are humble and friendly, there is sun all year, nature is lush and the energy flowing in the air is indescribable. Was visiting Grenada I fell in love Caribbean. It was also the first time I saw the Tour Operator getting slipper, (laughing). The excursion on your own for Coyaba Beach in St. George is undoubtedly the “shadow style and fresh water”. I would like to stay this beach for six months. I’ve never seen a sea so turquoise blue as Coyaba Beach. The water temperature is warm, after you enter does not want to leave. The port is about…

20 minutes driving to the beach. At the entrance the tourists are covered by native waiters who work in the restaurants close the sea. There are many local foods: fish fried, rice, salad, French fries, soda or juice. A meal cost for me USD4.00. The excursions that passengers are on their own without the local guide, those are the best for the Tour Escort enjoy, eat, relax and take photos. I love to work in the excursions in the Caribbean beaches. Thanks the Tour Manager Selma chosen me to work in this tour. The tour started at 09:00 and finished at 14:00. Some passengers opted to stay on the beach and come back by taxi on their own.

MSC EXCURSIONS: ZIPLINE IN BARBADOS WITH AERIAL TREK

Tuesday, May 27th, 2014

MSC EXCURSIONS: The MSC Divina docked at 08:00 in the port of Bridgetown in Barbados. We were making the crossing from Miami to Rio de Janeiro. That morning there were many passengers on excursion. I was scheduled to work on the Zipline Tour. We left the harbor by van with seven passengers, driver and Tour Escort, me. It was about twenty minutes to get St. Thomas, where is located the forest where is the plantation of native trees. We were taken to the Aerial Trek headquarters to receive the first instructions and sign a waiver booking form. The instructors explained how the equipment works to use the Zipline. The length of path is almost one thousand meters. There are eight platforms with different levels of height and difficulty. The trees are very high, there are platforms…

over 60 meters high. The guides work with a security system that keeps tourists always attached to the cables. The sport integration and nature is amazing. There were times I saw many monkeys on the trees and I hear birds singing. Another thing I loved was to breathe the clear air of Mother Nature. From the top of the trees I enjoyed a beautiful view of the forest. The passengers had a great time and were satisfied. There was an American lady over 70 years did the Zipline very well. We completed the path of Zipline in two hours. In the end the guides offered soft drinks for us. The only thing I did not like was the way the instructors asked several times tips to passengers. Anyway, there were no complaints and this excursion was one more I did with successfully. Have a look the videos below!

MSC EXCURSION: TO VISIT “DEPAZ RUM DISTILLERY” IN MARTINIQUE

Monday, May 26th, 2014

MSC EXCURSION: For who like to enjoy a good rum this excursion is perfect. The ship was docked in the small port of Fort de France, capital of Martinique. The native guide dressed in character, washed in by a quick sightseeing tour that included a stop at the highest point of the city. We had 15 minutes to visit a church from XVIII century and take panoramic photos of MSC Divina. After we took the road and drive around 50 kilometers to get the Depaz Distillery Depaz. It was 10:00 am when we started the tour in the rum factory. The first thing we visited was the old mansion where the first owners of the distillery lived. After we went visited part of the machinery which produces the famous “Rum Depaz”. We got in the reservoir where the barrels are stored; the smell of rum smell inside the place left the passengers salivating. The moment the guest was waiting for was the tasting. They served three kinds of…

rum, silver, gold and creamy. The passengers were so happy with the quality of the rum that each of them bought at least one bottle as a gift. There were also souvenir, candy and shirts available for shopping. The manager of the house gave to me two bottles of rum. On the way back we visited the museum that shows the details of the tragic story of Martinique. In 1635 the French Pierre Belain d’Esnambuc founded Saint-Pierre city that belonged to Overseas State of France. Saint Pierre was known as the “Paris of Caribbean”, capital of culture and economy in Martinique. But in 1902 a volcanic eruption devastated the French city killing almost the entire population. After long years of this occurred, Fort de France was founded growing economically and became the most important city in the country. In the oldest buildings you can see the mark of the larvae. MSC EXCURSIONS: BIKE TOUR IN BARCELONA

Saturday, October 26th, 2013

MSC EXCURSIONS: On board of MSC Orchestra I was scheduled to work on a Bike Tour in Barcelona. The tour was really fun; the passengers felt free while practicing sport. Before getting off the ship, the manager Maria Rosaria informed that the tour would be shared with other passengers from the ship MSC Poesia. In the terminal in Barcelona I met my colleague Natalia Polubaryeva. We left the port by bus to the city center. The bikes were in a tourist area next to Spanish Square. Javier the local guide started to give the first instructions about the bike and route. After a few minutes the passengers started to prepare for the tour. Queued and following the guide, we started the tour from the narrow streets of the oldest neighborhoods in Barcelona. I closed the group with Natalia to take care if any passenger does not stay behind. The electronic bikes are very easy to use, you just need to pedal the engine automatically turns on and…

just maintain balance and enjoy the view. The tour went through the main avenues of the city and La Rambla Avenue. We ride to the top of Montjuic Mountain, where we had 30 minutes break to enjoy and take panoramic pictures of Barcelona. After reset the breath we follow towards Cataluña Square. The tour also included 40-minute on the boat Eco Tours. We did a scenic tour around the harbor to see the sights of the city. We left the Eco Tours to get back the bikes towards Ciutadella Park. It is one of the most beautiful and visited parks in Barcelona. I emphasize that the Bike Tour is recommended for people who can at least stand on the bike. I say this because one of the passengers could not balance the bike and ended up delaying the whole group. Consequently, the guide did not cross the Sagrada Familia church. In the end of the tour, all passengers were satisfied with the excursion. To prove their happiness, have a look in the video below.

MSC EXCURSIONS: SANTO ANTONIO ON YOUR OWN IN IBIZA

Friday, October 25th, 2013

MSC EXCURSIONS: It was after 19:00 on MSC Orchestra when the tour in Santo Antonio neighborhood in Ibiza began. We left the port by bus and drove about 40 minutes to get San Antonio. The driver has chosen a strategic place to park the bus. The guide informed the passengers that the same site will be the meeting point to return to the ship. The passengers had three hours won their own to walk around, make shop, eat and take pictures. This is a tour where the passenger…

is free to do what they want without the guide. However, the return schedule of the meeting point should be on time. As it was end of season the streets were empty. There were few bars and restaurants opened. This tour was scheduled to work with another Tour Escort, Elvira Saliyenko. We took the opportunity of free time to try the typical Spanish paella. We visited a few souvenir shops, we found some passengers in the Space store, one of the most famous nightclubs in Ibiza.
